On 9–11 October 2019, BES-Net held the Regional Trialogue for Central Asia and Azerbaijan on Land Degradation, Biodiversity and Climate Change in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The event aimed to strengthen the interface between science, policy and practice and mainstream findings from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)’ thematic assessment reports into national policies, research and planning processes.
Hosted by the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology, Geography and Natural Resources in collaboration with IPBES, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the Coalition of the Willing on Pollinators, and with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the Trialogue brought together more than 70 participants from Azerbaijan and five Central Asia countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) and stakeholders within and outside the region
