The significance of indigenous knowledge has been recognized in ecosystem management and in its’ contribution for the advancement of knowledge in modern science. Indigenous knowledge on land management contributes to sustaining ecosystem services and sequestering carbon to mitigate climate change. Indigenous knowledge systems in land management have played a vital role in ecosystem management for generations in Ethiopia. This study examines role of indigenous knowledge system in land management among the Wolayita ethnic group in Damot-Sore District, Southern Ethiopia.
