In this report, Environmental Defense Fund and Forest Trends examine case studies on corporate commitments, government policies, and multi-stakeholder initiatives that support Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in Brazil and Indonesia. The report analyzes how current initiatives align with NDCs and identifies ways to improve this alignment. The report concludes with specific recommendations to enhance collaboration on private-sector commitments and NDCs in both countries. It also presents relevant findings that could apply in other countries and contexts. The analysis in the report is based on desktop research, expert interviews, and input from a workshop during the Tropical Forest Alliance 2020 (TFA 2020) General Assembly Meeting in March 2017.
