The Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) is a global asset for biodiversity and ecosystem services. With an area of more than 4 million square kilometers, this terrestrial mountain biome is one of the most diverse and rich in biodiversity, cultural diversity with a mosaic of ecosystems that provides ecosystem services to one-third of humanity. With the expansion of human activities, the fragile ecosystems and the associated biodiversity of the HKH are facing major challenges. Maintaining the social and ecological resilience in the HKH is a major contribution towards achieving sustainable development goals.
