One Tree Planted is looking to hire a skilled Video Creator/YouTube Manager to join our communications team to help manage and grow our YouTube channel and other social media platforms and produce amazing videos to showcase the impact of our tree planting and reforestation work for people, communities and the planet. One Tree Planted is a charity focused on global reforestation. As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world. All by planting trees! We are looking for a dynamic individual to add to our fast growing team. The ideal candidate has demonstrable experience running and promoting a YouTube channel, creating shareable video content, strong research & script writing skills, shooting & editing experience, a Bachelor’s degree, 2-4 years of relevant experience, and is a self-starter. You would be working with our existing Video Director, as well as our larger communications team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing and optimizing our YouTube channel:
  
  – Publishing new releases, writing descriptions, setting up keywords, cards, endpages, and other optimization
  
  – Curating playlists, creating thumbnails, keyword optimization & SEO using tools like TubeBuddy
  
  – Reviewing and optimizing existing content, and brainstorming suggestions for how to improve the channel
• YouTube Content Production: support the Video Producer in writing and creating content for YouTube including:
  
  – Educational video essay explainers
  
  – “Nature News” monthly update series
  
  – “Reforestation Updates” monthly update series including
  
  Any other future content as determined by the Video Producer
• Creating the YouTube videos would involve:
  
  – Researching and gathering sources for video subject matter
  
  – Writing a video-friendly narration script as well as a corresponding blog post
  
  – Working with the Video Producer to determine best practices and narrative structure for each video
  
  – Working with voice over specialists to craft the narration
  
  – Supporting the editing process
• Film and Video Production:
  
  – Supporting the video team with the production and editing of other videos for One Tree Planted, including social media videos, project story films, and other various content
• Working with the Video Director and Video Editor to ensure a steady production schedule of content, preparing materials and scripts for the editors
• Sourcing stock footage, music, and other assets to assist the Producer and Editor in the production process
• Producing and editing shareable videos for our social media outlets
• Setting up & shooting video on location if requested
• Helping manage and process our media library, including footage and photos
• Working with existing and producing new graphics assets and simple animations if needed
• Converting video scripts into corresponding blog posts to be published alongside the final videos on our website
• Reaching out to other YouTube creators to set up collaboration and cross-promotion opportunities
• Continuously monitoring and optimizing the performance of our YouTube content, and brainstorming ideas for improving or pivoting content
• Working with OTP to develop new story-telling solutions suitable for the reforestation space
• Maintaining OTP’s professional reputation and positive image
• Attending with designated OTP team members at conferences, team meetings, networking and industry events when required
