Greenpeace is known for its creative communications and nonviolent direct action — and for the people behind them. As part of our Talent Acquisition team, you’re charged with finding the most creative and interesting candidates who bring an activist spirit, strong leadership capabilities,  a hunger for engagement, and innovation and have a wide diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences. Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for collaborating with managers and external partners to attract, recruit, develop and retain the best talent; ensuring that Greenpeace can seamlessly achieve its mission now and in the future.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist works closely with Greenpeace managers and is responsible for providing consistent and proactive full cycle recruitment support. Greenpeace values equity and diversity, both internally and throughout our efforts worldwide.  This role will ensure we are consistently centering justice and equity in recruitment, hiring, and selection, and in the implementation of internal practices and policies. Your  role is not only to find the most highly-skilled talent in the market, but also ensure representation of  the highly-skilled talent that has been historically excluded in the environmental movement!

This role will be a good fit if you are a self-starter, creative and driven, with communication savvy that allows you to develop lasting relationships across a wide diversity of people and networks. You are passionate about justice and equity and unafraid to disrupt recruitment and selection processes to challenge our staff and managers to prioritize equity and overcome implicit bias. Most importantly, you have the intellectual curiosity, problem-solving capability and courage to challenge the status quo to ensure equitable outcomes in all of our talent acquisition operations.

This is a 1 year, full-time, exempt position located in Washington, DC or Oakland, CA.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will:

  • Develop, implement, and manage talent acquisition initiatives and processes for professional and fellowship positions nationally
  • Develop, evaluate, refine, and lead staff orientation onboarding programs, including coordinating with specific departments and hiring managers
  • Assist in the scheduling of both national and international candidate interviews including coordinating travel arrangements
  • Source qualified and diverse candidates and applicant pools through job postings and other tools including social media and job fairs
  • Proactively identifies candidates through active sourcing, database searches, advertising and networking
  • Review and sort applications and manage Applicant Tracking System Dashboard
  • Work closely with hiring managers to develop and revise job descriptions and create comprehensive recruitment strategies for open positions and understand the skill requirements of open positions to source
  • Drafts position announcements, job descriptions, and social media outreach materials
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with EEO guidelines, as well as other government requirements
  • Research, propose, and implement methods for improving staff recruitment
  • Keep current on developments in the field of diversity recruiting by maintaining contact with professional organizations
  • Plan and host recruiting events for Greenpeace  that represents our unique work environment that will result in hires
  • Design and deliver training to hiring managers and interviewers around inclusive interviewing and unconscious bias
