Description

Ocean Conservancy seeks a driven professional to join a small but dynamic Corporate Partnerships team to fulfill the position of Senior Manager, Business Development. This position will work to build the corporate prospect pipeline, actively recruit and pitch prospects, and shape and negotiate new corporate activations and partnerships. This position offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to drive revenue and brand visibility for Ocean Conservancy.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Partnerships, the Senior Manager of Business Development will play an integral role in identifying, soliciting and securing new business and developing pitch approaches, and structuring activations including licensing and cause marketing partnerships on the corporate partnerships team. This is a full-time remote position, with the opportunity to work from Ocean Conservancy’s Washington, DC office. Ideally, this person will work in the office approximately 2-4 times/month with the Corporate Partnerships team (depending on health and safety guidance and situations), with an opportunity to work in the office more if desired. This position may require some travel to attend tradeshows, conferences, partner and prospect meetings and partner activations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct and lead research on both inbound and outbound prospects to assess opportunities, identify areas of alignment and opportunities for partnership
  • Conduct outreach to and solicitation of new prospects via email, calls and meetings to pitch ideas and explore and determine partnership opportunities
  • Develop and structure potential activations for corporate prospects and existing partners, including cause marketing and product partnerships, sponsorship and licensing deals and philanthropic giving, working across internal teams to inform and design strategies
  • Coordinate with Ocean Conservancy’s program and finance teams to determine budget priorities and adapt prospecting approach accordingly
  • Develop and update pitch materials, templates and resources such as PowerPoint decks, one- pagers, case studies, proposals, etc. for new business outreach, collaborating across teams to gather relevant program updates, assets and messaging
  • Project manage partnerships process, namely cause, product and licensing partnerships, working collaboratively across departments
  • Become well versed and keep updated on the organization’s goals, work and activities, and become adept at communicating program and organizational goals and work to prospects
  • Identify and attend conferences, meetings and other forums for strategically positioning Ocean Conservancy for corporate prospect visibility
  • Help manage the internal vetting and approval process of new prospects on behalf of the Corporate Partnerships team
  • Research marketing, CSR/ESG and industry trends to inform strategic approach and appropriate integration into pitch materials
  • Support the operational and strategic needs of the team to advance Ocean Conservancy’s and the Corporate Partnership team’s objectives
