The Public Affairs intern is a part-time temporary position based in the Public Affairs division of Wildlife Conservation Society located at the Bronx Zoo, Bronx, NY.   Public Affairs consists of Government and Community Affairs, Communications, Partnerships and Library and Archives.

What you will learn :

• Research what Association of Zoos and Aquarium (AZA) zoos and aquariums are doing on climate change in following ways:
• Reducing organization’s footprint
• Consumer education
• Policy advocacy
• Corporate partnerships
• Research which AZA members have ‘take action’ capacity online
•  Research which AZA members are in priority political zones
  Help create and maintain a personalized list of legislators and AZA member contacts  (“AZA Key Contact List”)
• Create a database of email contacts for above Key Contact list that includes mapping against priority targets for various initiatives
• Develop system to update Key Contact list and track activities
  Support the development of a regional strategy for AZA legislative efforts
  Coordinate and organize mailings and updates to list as needed
