Reporting to an Associate General Counsel, the Privacy and Data Security Senior Counsel will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the compliance program for privacy and data security for the organization to meet global privacy regulations. The Senior Counsel provides legal advice and direction on very complex matters related to privacy and data security.  They will apply highly developed analytical and risk management skills to serve organizational needs efficiently and effectively.  They must clearly articulate complex legal concepts and options to project managers, high-level managers, and the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Privacy and Data Security Senior Counsel ensures that transactions and activities are legally sound and consistent with the Conservancy’s mission, authority, policies, and procedures.  The Senior Counsel also directs the day-to-day operations of the global privacy program, including program objectives, policies, procedures, training, and communication. They will serve as an organizational resource for information and guidance on privacy and the protection of personal data and will leverage constructive and effective relationships with a wide variety of staff, including senior management.
