The Facilities Technician will conduct various buildings and grounds maintenance activities at the Nature Conservancy’s Pine Butte Preserve and may travel to other Montana preserves and/or properties to conduct similar duties.  Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: maintaining and cleaning preserve equipment; maintaining, cleaning, refurbishing and repairing preserve facilities including guest cabins, bathrooms and kitchens; grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, gardening, landscaping and fencing; providing information to preserve visitors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Pine Butte Preserve Facilities Technician will focus on the maintenance and upkeep of all the physical facilities and systems at the preserve. The position requires a broad base of knowledge in the fields of plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and basic automotive and farm equipment maintenance. Specifically, the position will:

• Repair, maintain and keep in excellent functioning order all plumbing, electrical, and gas systems at preserve facilities.
• Repair, maintain and keep in excellent functioning order all preserve vehicles and machinery.
• Oversee organization and cleaning of preserve shop.
• Do basic repair work and carpentry on preserve buildings.
• Help with the pre-season start-up and end of season shut down.
• Oversee grounds upkeep, including mowing, trimming, gardening, landscaping and fencing.
• Assist preserve staff with various projects as needed.
