Description

The Development Program and Events Manager manages one functional activity within a development program. They will be responsible for providing resources such as special events, trips, research, stewardship, and gift processing at the Asia Pacific Development department based in Hong Kong.

The Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by developing and implementing tactics for approved plans and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. They will interpret guidelines and analyze information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems. They will provide recommendations and targeted training related to the functional activity they manage. The Manager must have advanced knowledge of the systems and resources utilized for the functional activity; apply knowledge to managing support and coordinate communications related to the resources. They will develop documentation, adapt processes, and participate in the enhancement of systems and tools used by the team. The Manager will keep up to date on market trends and best practices to improve services. The Manager works in close cooperation with any or all of the following: Conservancy staff, donors, volunteers, vendors, public agencies, financial institutions, and legal and accounting professionals. They will organize and coordinate diverse activities, projecting outcomes, and implementing solutions in consultation with leadership. They may Travel occasionally, work long and flexible hours as needed. The work environment may involve infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

The Development Program and Events Manager reports to the Hong Kong Director of Development and is responsible for supporting the Hong Kong-based private gifts program by developing and implementing a comprehensive on/offline engagement program (including events and trips) to attract, cultivate, and/or retain current and future donors and supporters to TNC.

This person will work with the Asia Pacific regional fundraising and marketing teams to develop and implement donor and prospect events and trips in the region. The goal of the events and trips will be to create an in-region experience that facilitates subsequent requests for support. This person will work collaboratively with the Asia Pacific fundraising teams, regional in-country programs, science, and the World Office to create best-in-class donor and prospect trips and events.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

  • Support the Hong Kong Director of Development to plan, organize, and manage all fundraising and stakeholder engagement events and trips, including Council’ meetings, donor field visits, and conferences in online, offline, and hybrid formats, from start to finish according to requirements, target audience, and objectives.
  • Proactively advise on event and trip types and formats to meet fundraising objectives.
  • Collaborate with relevant Asia Pacific teams to create donor trip itineraries, communicate and manage logistics, coordinate the development of trip materials and briefings, and assess venues.
  • Manage budget and contracts of all events and trips with venues, suppliers, and contractors to control quality, manage costs and adhere to time constraints.
  • Coordinate trip/event follow-ups to ensure that 1) participants’ feedback is captured, 2) participants’ feedback is communicated to relevant stakeholders across the Conservancy, 3) specific next steps are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and analyze events’ outcomes and effectiveness, and prepare reports and debrief materials.
  • Possess a flexible, target-driven, proactive approach and attitude.
  • Support ad-hoc assignments as required.
