Since March 2020, NRDC’s physical offices have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We anticipate the offices may re-open as early as Fall 2021. Until circumstances allow us to re-open, we will continue to support staff with remote working arrangements. This position will not be eligible for permanent remote working arrangements after the offices reopen.
Responsibilities
Litigation support duties include:
- Preparing, proofreading, and fact-checking documents to be filed in court;
- Preparing and executing service of court filings;
- Researching and summarizing court rules;
- Proofing legal correspondence;
- Drafting basic legal correspondence (cover letters, notices, etc.);
- Maintaining up-to-date case files (including electronic, hard copy, and archived off-site);
- Maintaining case calendars;
- Conducting factual research to advance case development;
- Reviewing documents produced by other parties in litigation; and
- Interviewing NRDC members to support anticipated and pending litigation.
Administrative support duties include:
- Processing invoices and expense reports, and maintaining detailed budget trackers;
- Formatting, copying, scanning, mailing, and faxing documents;
- Assisting in hiring and orienting new staff and interns;
- Scheduling meetings, booking travel, and organizing retreats; and
- Assisting other Litigation Assistants, the Operations Assistant, and office Program Assistants as needed.
