Description

The Land Protection Program Specialist will work as part of a larger land protection team to acquire legal real estate interest in important conservation lands and waters in Pennsylvania and Delaware. The position plays an integral coordination role to ensure land protection projects meet all legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements and are appropriately documented and tracked in relevant databases

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Land Protection Program Specialist coordinates project approval and legal review of real estate acquisition projects to ensure projects meet all legal and internal compliance requirements. They maintain and updates conservation lands databases, including maintaining documentation for all data. The Land Protection Program Specialist participates in conservation planning at various levels, processes spatial and other relational data sets derived from cartographic and tabular source material, performs data analysis and produces maps and other graphic products and reports. They develop and maintains GIS library and/or database products library and compiles, assembles, and maintains land protection, biodiversity, and management information from various sources. The Land Protection Program Specialist assists the land protection director and project managers with coordinating team meetings and work plans, managing and tracking grants and contracts, and managing the divestment of properties.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Maintains and updates the Land Resource Manager (LRM) and may assist with the chapter’s HUB, TNC Secured Lands, and other conservation lands databases.
  • Ensures integrity of data collection and management relating to conservation projects and project statistics.
  • Helps develop, coordinate, and track team meetings, work plans, and large project budgets.
  • May negotiate and contract with vendors.
  • Coordinates with internal and external legal advisors, TNC project review committees, and other TNC business units.
  • Under limited supervision, acts independently, resolves complex issues within the program area and may be a resource to others.
