HRC is looking for an intern to help us take our communications efforts to the next level. This will include assisting with current communications including social media and blog maintenance, as well as suggesting improvements to current practices. The ideal candidate will be proactive and creative, with an ability to identify appropriate communications opportunities.
Over the course of the internship, the intern is expected to produce a one-page guidance document for social media content creation, a social media toolkit for at least one event, and a portfolio of at least five member profiles for the Coalition newsletter and website.
COMMUNICATIONS TASKS
- Assist with HRC website blog feed, including bi-weekly checks of member feed imports for hydropower-related content.
- Assist with HRC Twitter account, including creating and posting original content as well as identifying and reposting external hydropower-related content and highlighting BIPOC voices.
- Research and implement best practices around social media and email campaigns, including effective tweet/post/email timing and messaging.
- Create micro communications campaigns for events, anniversaries, or theme days, including blog posts, social media toolkits to share with members/partners, and compilation of relevant archival or external information to share. Examples of relevant events or theme days include National Hydropower Day, World Rivers Day, World Water Day, recognition of important dam removals, and more.
- Conduct interviews of Coalition members and write short member profiles to be published in the newsletter and on the website.
- Assist in compiling, drafting, and reviewing newsletter content, including Coalition updates, job postings, and policy analysis updates.
- Assist in coordinating webinars and brown bags for Coalition members.
- Attend meetings as appropriate.
- Additional projects as needed.
