Description

The Specialist works towards meeting the strategic priorities of the team by developing and coordinating tactics to address finance and operations plans. They manage the budgeting, forecasting and analysis of financial performance. The Specialist completes and organizes a diverse range of reports, tasks and activities in support of financial management of the International Membership Department, including but not limited to Australia and Hong Kong SAR. On the operations side, they oversee the gift processing operations from end-to-end, analyzing and optimizing those processes on a regular basis and making recommendations to the team on areas for improvement.  The Specialist manages the portfolio of contracts with the business owners to ensure timely contract management and adherence with our policies and procedures. The Specialist also works closely with various stakeholders such as country program staff, finance teams, program consultants and vendors to support achieving membership financial program goals.  They use software systems and analytical packages to track and analyze financial results, report findings to make accurate and timely decisions, and work with the International Director of Membership to implement strategic recommendations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Ability to communicate projections and outcomes, distilling analytical information into easily understood messages in a way that allows managers and others to understand and participate in decision making;.
  • Ability to analyze available information for the purpose of coordinating efforts, planning, & implementing projects;
  • Financial responsibility includes working within a budget to complete projects; negotiating & contracting with vendors; & assisting with budget development and meeting fundraising targets;
  • Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information;
  • Ability to work with and communicate with a wide range of people — vendors, the public, senior level staff, leadership, influential donors, and others;
  • Ability to coordinate projects with many variables & set realistic deadlines & manage a timeline; 
  • Ability to adapt or modify processes in response to changing circumstances;
  • Demonstrates common sense, flexibility and teamwork with ability to exercise independent judgement;
  • Ability to organize & manage diverse activities & able to set priorities under pressure; 
  • Opportunity to act independently on assigned tasks and projects.  May have full opportunity to direct individual projects.  Refers questions beyond project scope to supervisors;
  • May supervise administrative staff and/or volunteers, interns, or temporary staff; and
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work across time zones.
