Description

Conservation International (CI) has been protecting nature for the benefit of all for over 30 years. Through science, policy, and partnerships, CI is helping build a healthier, more prosperous, and more productive planet.  

POSITION SUMMARY

Conservation International has received from the Government of Madagascar the management delegation of COFAV protected areas since 2012. Conservation activities were engaged with efficient and optimal management in compliance with international standards, in order to reduce deforestation and the fragmentation of these corridors, while also promoting alternative livelihoods and development for the resident communities. The GCF-funded project intends to consolidate these efforts and reinforce investments in order to mitigate risks of climate change and to increase communities’ resilience. Day-to-day activities on the ground are directly implemented by field agents.

The field agents are ensuring permanent and effective presence within intervention sites to provide close accompaniment and support to local communities and local partners on different activities related to adaptation and mitigation to climate change, conservation, and livelihoods improvement.

The field agents will be based on-site and report directly to the field analyst in CI COFAV regional office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • -Ensure effective implementation of field activities related to communication, sensitization, conservation, livelihoods, forest restoration, environmental education throughout technical support, and monitoring on the ground.
  • -Identify, prioritize and provide capacity building on specific areas (management of natural resources, patrolling, ecological monitoring, agricultural techniques, organizational development, project development, and management) to local communities in order to achieve conservation and development goals.
  • -Track indicators of achievement and impact to inform/feed the monitoring and evaluation system within the landscape

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • -This position is based in Fianarantsoa, Madagascar.
  • -5 days per month working in CI regional office in town for data compilation, processing, reporting, planning, meetings, procurement.
  • -20 days/month in the field.
