Description

Reporting to the RMD, the Executive Lead serves to lead, coordinate and advance the priorities and objectives of the RMD. They ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness within the LAR Management Teams. They will lead and manage implementation and tracking of strategic priorities on behalf of the RMD, working with colleagues across LAR and TNC more broadly to ensure effective execution. The Executive Lead is an outstanding communicator. The Executive Lead serves as the RMD’s lead senior staffer on the strategic engagement of the Management Leadership Teams in LAR.

The Executive Lead serves as a thought partner to the RMD and is responsible for creating and maintaining focused attention on pushing forward the RMD’s strategic priorities. The RMD relies heavily on the Executive Lead’s abilities to anticipate needs, follow-through with their resolution and to be kept adequately informed of developments. The Executive Lead will not only assume independent leadership of discreet projects, as requested by the RMD, but will also proactively identify important projects and initiatives to the RMD that they will lead to advance regional priorities.

The Executive Lead oversees the execution of strategic decisions and works in close collaboration with the senior leadership on a wide range of strategic and administrative activities. The Executive Lead has an in-depth understanding of the TNC’s goals and priorities and the work of the LAR to deal with highly sensitive and confidential information and situations.

The Executive Lead supervises the Executive Coordinator who manages the advance planning and logistics for coordinating the RMD’s activities, programs, projects, and complex travel. The Executive Coordinator serves as the operations and engagement director for the RMD, oversees office administrative and communications functions, with responsibility for project management, finance, human resources, facilities, information systems, office management and safety.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Assist the RMD in coordinating critical priorities, including: (1) serve as a strategic advisor and counsel to the RMD; (2) assume day-to-day responsibility for assigned projects and tasks; (3) plan and lead the Project Review Team (PRT) meetings; and (4) with the support of the Executive Coordinator, plan and participate in LAR leadership meetings and retreats that advance the RMD’s executive agenda.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across LAR, with Global teams and other senior leaders, and colleagues at all levels to achieve project objectives and deliverables and positively impact TNC’s culture.
  • Manage administrative staff including training, professional development, establishing clear directions and overseeing the day-to-day work
  • Document and communicate decisions and action items from meetings with support from the Executive Coordinator and ensure follow-up and closure of action items.
  • Actively support a culture of accountability for execution and results.
  • Ensure that the RMD is properly briefed on strategic calendar events (in close coordination with the Executive Coordinator), and coordinate preparation of briefings, talking points and background material for events the RMD participates in;
  • Identify issues that impact the successful execution of plans, including elevating issues of which the RMD and/or the executive leadership should be aware, and framing ideas to solve the problem/mitigate the risk.
  • Oversee the successful on-boarding of new senior leaders in LAR.
  • From time to time, serve as the RMD’s primary liaison with key stakeholders.
  • Help to facilitate teamwork and communication at all levels within TNC.
