Description

The Development Manager will work closely with the CEO and Managing Director to broaden the depth of our corporate and foundation relationships while helping with major donor strategy and coordinating outreach. The Development Manager will also manage PPC’s Development & Events Coordinator who leads digital fundraising and event planning.  This includes helping to develop new fundraising strategies around events and digital fundraising. This includes learning an immersive understanding of PPC’s work and scope in order to cultivate new funding opportunities. They will manage the overall fund development activities of Plastic Pollution Coalition, coordinating and supporting senior staff in the solicitation of major gifts and foundation support, in addition to managing the digital fundraising outreach and online donation support. The successful candidate will help steward donor relationships and identify new prospects to help build Plastic Pollution Coalition’s visibility, impact, and financial resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Major & Individual Donor Cultivation & Retention (35%)

  • Coordinate cultivation and stewardship of major donors. Manage a portfolio of major donor prospects (capable of giving $5K+ annually).
  • Establish a leadership giving strategy that secures increasing revenue from principal gifts and major donors, friends, and foundations and corporate philanthropy.
  • Work closely with the PPC Leadership Team and the Executive Advisory Board to recruit new board members who are capable of making significant gifts.
  • Work with Board, CEO, and Managing Director to develop stewardship and solicitation plans for all major institutional donors and develop pipeline strategies for new institutional prospects.
  • Research major donor prospects to determine their affinity for PPC’s work, their capacity to give, and connections to PPC staff and Board members.

Institutional Philanthropy (35%)

  • Oversee all philanthropic institutional relationships for the organization, including corporate partnerships, event sponsors, private foundations, and government funders.
  • Manage a portfolio of foundations and prospects (giving $5,000 – $100,000 or more annually).
  • Ensure proposals and reports meet deadlines and stewardship plans are in place for all relationships.
  • Keep up to date with what the Programs & Communications teams are working on and draft proposal/report language that reflects the most recent communications about mission, programs, impact, etc.
  • Identify new prospects through research and networking and develop deeper relationships within the foundation space to ensure continuous growth of the overall program.

Corporate Fundraising & Sponsorships (10%)

  • Develop a corporate sponsorship program, in collaboration with the Coalition Program Manager and Managing Director, that results in audience expansion, donation, and gifts-in-kind.
  • Create and manage all fundraising materials needed to raise contributed revenue including membership appeals and communications, grant proposals, decks and pitches, budgets and reports, and supplemental materials.
  • Help manage contracts and scope of work with Business Members for collaborative projects.
  • Collaborate with the Coalition Manager on planning and implementing a tiered paid Membership program.

Fundraising Events (10%)

  • Collaborate with the Development & Events Coordinator and Executive Leadership team to ensure successful events by pitching in wherever necessary.
  • Ensure fundraising events meet net revenue goals and have strong return on investment by developing event budgets with an intentional focus on securing in-kind donations.
  • Identify and seek sponsorships for events, working with the CEO, Managing Director, and Coalition Program Manager.
  • Help identify new fundraising event ideas and assess viability.

Digital Fundraising (10%)

  • Oversee the Development & Events Coordinator to ensure plans are ambitious and goals are being met.
  • Analyze giving data to inform stewardship and growth strategies.
  • Identify and seek sponsorships for events, working with the CEO, Managing Director, and Coalition Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with Communications, Marketing and Technology staff on integrated fundraising campaigns to ensure strategies, messaging and goals are aligned.
