Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Philanthropy Operations (AVP), the Associate Director of Philanthropy Data Strategy and Analytics (Associate Director) is both a partner to the AVP and other philanthropy operations directors and is responsible for all analytics needs for the team. This position provides the entire scope of functions for our fundraising analytics needs, from data extraction using SQL, through synthesizing, analyzing, and interpreting data, to producing final reports which include narratives, summary tables, and visualizations.
Essential Functions
- Work independently and, as applicable, with internal and external partners, to identify and implement solutions to complex data questions;
- Establish and review logic, criteria, and definitions to incorporate into data models to extract functional data sets for reporting;
- Develop and refine techniques for gathering and integrating data from disparate sources;
- Formulate, design, and develop reports, tools, and analyses to enable informed decision making;
- Prepare analysis and data visualizations for a wide range of users at all levels of the organization, including Senior and Executive Leadership to support presentations, budget forecasting, fundraising goal setting, and other needs;
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve and consolidate reporting with an eye to efficiency and program outcomes; determine the right data, the right question, the right tool, and the appropriate audience for work;
- Analyze internal and external reports and recommendations from consultants or other stakeholders and prepare critical analysis, documentation, and presentations to explain changes, inconsistencies, identify patterns and strategic opportunities, and critique recommendations;
- Participate in developing, enhancing, and performing standard operating procedures for data governance and hygiene;
