The Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER) is seeking highly qualified candidate in Tropical Ecosystem Ecology to join our team, who will be able to:
- to develop and co-teach modules in the areas related to Biodiversity offered by IBER, and other related modules offered by other Faculties, Institutes and Centres (FICs) in Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
- to contribute to IBER’s research and publication activities through high impact publications and engagement in the Institute including research seminars and strengthening the Institute’s research areas.
- to contribute to the development and facilitation of education and outreach programmes for IBER including the UBD Botanical Research Centre and actively engage in various educational and outreach initiatives under IBER.
- to actively contribute to the development of IBER including the UBD BRC, IBER forest plots network and IBER database.
- to collaborate with academics and professionals within and outside UBD to make a global impact through excellence in research and innovation.
- to actively engage with local stakeholders on biodiversity issues in Brunei; and
to actively participate in the activities of the Institute.
Education, Skills and Other Requirements
- PhD in Biodiversity, Tropical Ecology, or a closely related field (with a specialization in Tropical Ecosystem Ecology) from a recognized university.
- Demonstrate an outstanding record of research productivity and publications related to the above fields.
- Field experience in tropical forests and/or tropical ecosystems is required. Field and ecological research experience in Brunei’s forests would be an added advantage.
- Preference will be given to those who have taught (and supervised research students) at graduate level
