The UN Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples (UNVF), NIA TERO, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Documentation, Research, and Information Centre for Indigenous Peoples (DOCIP), Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI), and the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA), in collaboration with the UNFCCC Secretariat, are hosting a series of training sessions in preparation for COP29.
These sessions will cover key topics relevant to Indigenous Peoples and climate negotiations. The schedule is as follows:
- Session 1: UN Mechanisms on Climate Change and an Introduction to the UNFCCC. (October 4)
- Session 2: Loss and Damage and Article 6. (October 9)
- Session 3: UNFCCC Virtual Training Workshop – Session 1. (October 15)
- Session 4: UNFCCC Virtual Training Workshop – Session 2. (October 17)
- Session 5: Global Stocktake and Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA). (October 29)
- Session 6: Climate Finance and Indigenous Peoples. (November 1)
- Session 7: COP28 Decisions Related to Indigenous Peoples. (November 4)
The first session will take place on Friday, October 4, with the following time slots:
- 8:00 to 10:00 AM (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador)
- 9:00 to 11:00 AM (New York)
- 3:00 to 5:00 PM (Geneva)
