On 20 September 2023 (14:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) and Donor Committee for Enterprise Development (DCED) are jointly hosting the webinar “Empowering Women for the Green Transformation”.
Gender equality as a fundamental dimension of social justice is often overlooked or only marginally addressed by policymakers and development partners when planning, designing, and implementing policies and projects. However, evidence shows that gender equality and environmental goals are in fact mutually reinforcing.
This webinar will explore different pathways through which policymakers and development practitioners can collectively take action to better align women’s economic empowerment with the green agenda, as well as examine how greening the economy presents important opportunities to improve gender equity. It will also discuss the role of action-based research, green policies, sustainable finance and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
To provide a conceptual foundation, the webinar will introduce the concept and relevance of gender-equitable transitions, analysing structural challenges in practical implementation and outlining possible fields of action.
This webinar will be joined by co-chairs of the GGKP Gender Expert Group, which convenes global experts to catalyse collective action towards gender equality and women’s empowerment in global green transitions.
