The Trialogue Approach

About the Webinar
This learning webinar was an opportunity to delve into the intricate elements of the Trialogue approach and its application in fostering multi-stakeholder engagement, navigating power dynamics and integrating various knowledge systems.
The Trialogue approach, developed and refined by the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net), is a dynamic multi-stakeholder dialogue platform designed to enhance the intersection of science, policy and practice for the effective conservation and management of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Tailored to both regional and national contexts, it fosters a culture of dialogue among diverse actors, each bringing unique worldviews, interests and influences to collaboratively address and devise solutions for critical challenges in biodiversity and ecosystems.
Webinar Keypoints
How Trialogues bridge diverse communities, worldviews and knowledge systems, combining scientific research, Indigenous and local wisdom and practical experiences.
Integrating the wisdom and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples and local communities and the Multiple Evidence Base (MEB) approach.
Insights and practical examples of approaching power dynamics within Trialogues, focusing on the adoption of the human rights-based approach, clarifying roles of rightsholders and duty-bearers and reevaluating traditional engagement rules.
How to address the challenges and strategies of stakeholder engagement within the Trialogue framework, illustrating the method's success in breaking down the 'working in silos' approach, creating platforms for diverse viewpoints and facilitating meaningful consensus-building.
