The side event focuses on the critical role of the human rights-based approach (HRBA), gender perspective and the work with Indigenous Peoples and local communities in environmental efforts. The event will particularly highlight how diverse perspectives, worldviews, and knowledge systems contribute to comprehensive knowledge creation, enhancing policy and action. A key focus will be on bringing practical examples and stories of Indigenous Peoples’ perspectives contributing to nature protection efforts as outlined by the vision of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and identifying pathways for synergies among the Rio Conventions and the MEAs for an inclusive and just future for all.
