On 24 May 2022 (15h00 – 16h30 CET), the World Bank Group is hosting the eleventh session of the Circular Economy and Private Sector Development Learning Series on Climate change with the support of the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership.
In this eleventh session of the Learning Series, discussions will explore the dematerialization and decarbonization challenges and opportunities to reduce GhG emissions, how to leverage low-carbon policies, and enable private-sector circularity via NDCs in key industrial (and complementary) sectors and business innovations around the world.
The global economy is placing severe pressure on our planet, and is pushing through critically sensitive planetary boundaries. There is an urgent need to move from the predominant take, use, waste linear economy towards a regenerative circular economy – particularly in light of the many national and corporate pledges toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. To date, much of the decarbonization discourse has been limited to the energy sector, rather than on the material opportunity.
