The second session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment, will tentatively take place in Paris, France from 22 to 26 May 2023.

Call for written submissions

At its first session, the intergovernmental negotiating committee requested the secretariat to prepare for consideration by the committee at its second session a document with potential options for elements towards an international legally binding instrument. The secretariat, in preparing the document, will, in consultations with the chair, draw on the views expressed by Members during the first session of the committee as well as their written submissions.

Considering the above request, and to have the working documents available six weeks ahead of the second session, stakeholders and Members of the Committee are invited to provide such written submissions by the following deadlines:

• By 6 January 2023 for written submissions from stakeholders.
• By 10 February 2023 for written submissions from Members of the Committee.
