Project Monitoring and Result-based Management Workshop for Countries Supported by the BES Solution Fund

The BES Solution Fund Workshop Series - Part 3

The BES Solution Fund is a catalytic fund provided under the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net) project to support selected countries that participated in BES-Net’s past Regional Trialogues (triangular dialogue and capacity-building methodology for policy, science, and practice communities) or developed national ecosystem assessments in implementing their respective national action plans to support tangible, on-the-ground biodiversity solutions.

In 2021, BES-Net II embarked on a series of knowledge exchange and capacity-building workshops to support the BES Solution Fund target countries. The capacity-building workshop on multi-stakeholder engagement was held virtually on 23 February 2022. It was the second workshop to be held in 2022 to enhance the capacity and mutual learning of the BES Solution Fund countries on various thematic topics.

The Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net) organized the third session of its thematic capacity-building workshop series with a special focus on project monitoring and result-based management. It provided participants with a greater understanding of and insight into various aspects of result-oriented project monitoring to ensure that any interventions undertaken by the countries under the BES Solution Fund produced effective and impactful results that were sustainable beyond the project period.

Objectives of the Project Monitoring and Result-based Management Workshop

This event was held virtually on 29 November and built on the preceding virtual capacity-building workshops held during the course of 2022. The workshop series sought to enhance the capacity and mutual learning of the BES Solution Fund countries on various thematic topics of common interest. Particularly, it aimed to:

Provide the key principles and practical tips on project monitoring and result-based management to achieve a greater impact in implementing the BES Solution Fund.

Promote knowledge exchange and shared learning by countries on good practices for project monitoring and result-based management based on their country experiences.

Identify opportunities and challenges in project monitoring and ensuring impactful and sustainable results under the BES Solution Fund implementation.

Further, the workshop targeted UNDP country office colleagues and key partners who are directly involved in the implementation of the BES Solution Fund and have been involved in or are familiar with the BES Solution Fund workplan development in their respective countries.
