Drought impacts every aspect of the environment and communities, leading to significant costs and creating a complex web of effects across various sectors of the economy, such as widespread crop failure, reduced power supply, and the disruption of many ecosystem services. With the increasing influence of climate change, droughts are expected to become more frequent, intense, and prolonged, threatening the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in many regions worldwide. However, how are droughts and their impacts felt and experienced in different contexts?
This event invites participants to join the conversation as part of the SparkBlue consultation on drought resilience, which will contribute to the upcoming UNDP Drought Resilience Strategy. Together, participants will explore the drivers of drought and discuss the necessary components of an integrated approach to building drought resilience.
Colleagues from various practice areas with an interest or experience in drought resilience are encouraged to participate in this launch event and contribute to the consultation.
