We are currently seeking a Research Assistant to join the SABRE Research Centre in the School of Engineering at SETU, to work within an innovative three-year EPA-funded project. Entitled Cúpla Trá, the new project combines digital twin technology as a platform which will be structured and managed around a landscape biography methodological framework for the environmental analysis of the coastal region of the Tramore Back Strand in County Waterford. The aim of the project is to protect and restore the natural environment of this area in the face of ongoing climate change, including the increased frequency of extreme weather events, rising sea levels, change in the biodiversity structure, whilst balancing the challenge of a growing local population with its subsequent impact on the area. This exciting project will develop the capabilities of the current digital twin technology in the area of the natural environment, including human and non-human behavioural patterns and use, in order to assist and inform multiple stakeholders in protecting and restoring environments under threat.
The successful candidate will be working within the SABRE Research Centre, which aligns and coordinates existing and future research and innovation activity within the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at SETU. It aims to support, encourage and develop ground-breaking, interdisciplinary research to positively impact on policy, society, knowledge and industry. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Literature Reviewing, benchmark studies, report writing and documentation of design process.
- Producing, testing and iterating mock-ups; wireframes; scenarios; workflow maps and beta
prototypes for collaboration and engagement with stakeholders. - Plan, design and conduct a range user tests appropriate to concept development stage.
- Work with the team to clarify design goals, map user flows, prototype interactions
- Attend project coordination meetings
- Work in a fast-paced research environment.
- Aiding the PIs in providing communication between researchers
- Any other duties as required by the Principal Investigators
Salary:
The Gross Salary Scale applicable to this post is: €30,025 – €39,908 p.a.
