POSITION SUMMARY 

The BOP Intern would be supervised by the Programme Managers and would work closely with programme staff. Their primary responsibility will support CI staff members in project implementation and day to day basis operational work. They will assist in other programme implementation work, including programme assistance functions, such as documenting meeting minutes, drafting concept notes, itineraries, budget for program-related activities, (meeting and travel arrangements, etc.) and organizational coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide input, guidance/support in developing all environmental and social safeguard plans and tools.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams in preparing and submitting work plans, quarterly reports, annual reports, and project documents to address social and social risks during project development and implementation.
• Assist in developing concept notes, budgets, and itineraries for safeguards field monitoring.
• Assist in organizing awareness-raising, capacity strengthening, and knowledge exchange activities related to safeguards and gender for CI staff, project teams, implementing partners, and selective stakeholders.
• Provide support to the adequate operation/ socialization of project-level grievance redress.
• Support in the conduct of gender and safeguards-related stakeholder meetings.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Willingness to travel outside of Montserrado or hard-to-reach terrains/ communities.
• Flexible to work at most eight hours daily per week.
• The Internship is expected to begin on November 1, 2023, till April 30, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Working towards the completion of a bachelor’s degree or a recent graduate (not exceeding 3 months post-graduation) in environmental science or a related field, such as international development or social sciences.
• Basic understanding of the social risks and impacts, including vulnerable and marginalized peoples, gender equality, local community peoples, benefit-sharing, conflict, and grievance redress.
• Ability to demonstrate cross-cultural and people skills and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion at project and institutional levels.
• Ability to work independently and remotely to meet deadlines and commitments.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capacity to work in team environments, including building productive partnerships across diverse stakeholders.
• English oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.
• Minimum of 2.5 GPA

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Environmental Science, Community Development, Human Rights, Democracy, Gender Peacebuilding, or any social science-related studies.
