Position summary:

Rainforest Alliance has started a 2-year project in Peru called “Powering Productivity and Soil Health through Efficient Fertilization in Coffee Supply Chains” (the Project) in Satipo, Pangoa, Pichanaki (Junín), and Monzon Valley (Huanuco), to strengthen farmers fertilization knowledge, foster and efficient fertilization, on protect soil health. To achieve that, the Project will deliver training sessions and implement some demo plots to show farmers how efficient fertilization could result in better production and coffee quality.

For that reason, at Rainforest Alliance we are looking for a performance-oriented, collaborative, and impact-driven Project Manager (PM), responsible for managing and monitoring the development of the Project, to that end, the PM will supervise consultants, support the supply of fertilizers and inputs to the demo plots, report to the donor and stakeholders, and communicate progress in the Project.

S/He reports directly to the Peru Country Director and in close coordination with other RA departments, manages and contributes to the implementation of the Project.

Responsibilities:

  •  The Rainforest Alliance’s Core Values are Impact, Change, Collaboration, Openness, and Trust, and as such, they form the basis of the behaviors we demonstrate;
  • Manage the implementation of the project;
  • Supervise consultants’ activities and deliverables;
  • Supervise activities of the Field Technician, who will be monitoring the demo plots and will be training farmers;
  • Approve training materials for the Project;
  • Organize the logistics for the arrival on-time of agro-inputs and other materials for the demo plots and training;
  • Coordinate with project partners the development of activities;
  • Communicate the progress of the Project to stakeholders and the donor;
  • Monitor the implementation of the project, progress of training, and success of the demo plot, with the support of the Field Technician;
  • Supervise the efficiency and effectiveness of the training conducted and provide follow-up;
  • Maintain good relationships and liaise with stakeholders; and
  • Identify opportunities for other projects or initiatives in the area.
