Description

The Jack and Laura Dangermond Preserve encompasses 24,000 acres of rare California wild coast and eight miles of oceanfront at Point Conception in Santa Barbara County. The Preserve aims to connect the ancient past with the future, hosting world-class researchers developing new insights into climate change and the intersection of conservation and technology, while also exploring 10,000 years of human occupation and rebuilding a connection with the indigenous peoples who once inhabited the area around Point Conception. The Hospitality Coordinator will be a critical member of the Preserve’s operations team, helping to ensure that scientists, educators, and other visitors to the Preserve have safe, rewarding and efficient visits to the Preserve.

The Hospitality and Visitation Coordinator will support visitation to TNC’s Jack and Laura Dangermond Preserve through meeting and greeting overnight visitors; ensuring that overnight facilities are safe, clean, and ready for use by visitors; procuring and organizing onsite supplies, equipment, food, and beverages for groups; and acting as an on-site liaison when questions arise during visits. The Coordinator supports the Preserve’s mission by facilitating programming, including conservation, fundraising, stewardship, education, community relations, and scientific research. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring high-quality customer service, working well with a diversity of colleagues, supporting groups in remote and sometimes challenging locations and weather conditions, and communicating, implementing and enforcing safety plans and other policies. They will fulfill the administrative work needed for visitations including: planning; procuring equipment, food, and supplies; preparing and maintaining equipment; coordinating food service; record keeping and other logistical duties. They must be comfortable receiving input from and sharing feedback with multiple members of the Preserve team before, during, and after visits.

The work schedule will be 35 hours per week (full-time, hourly pay with benefits), but days and times will depend on visitation, including overtime, weekends and overnight stays at the preserve as needed.
