As part of UNEP’s work to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable textile value chain, the online Fashion Industry Target Consultation has been launched, together with the non-profit organization Global Fashion Agenda, and GO4SDGs. This consultation aims to identify and converge existing industry-aligned targets to establish a holistic industry route towards a net-positive fashion industry. If possible, these targets will be based on existing targets, and once finalized, they will be voluntary but influential in aligning the fashion industry to achieve a common vision. The complete set of targets covers the following five priority areas:
- Respectful and secure work environments,
- Better wage systems,
- Resource stewardship,
- Smart material choices, and
- Circular systems.
