Description

Reporting to WRI’s Global Director of Finance, you will lead the Hub team into an exciting Phase 2 (2023-27) focusing on in-country delivery, private sector engagement, and expanding P4G’s funding base. Your status as a well-connected, market-based international development leader with extensive project and stakeholder management experience will be leveraged.

You will have a broad understanding of international development, private sector partnerships (including investment approaches in emerging markets), and climate. You will be able to use your networking and strategy capabilities to advance broader outreach and influence strategies to enable Partnerships to scale through investments and government engagement. You will be adept at managing multiple opportunities with the ability to negotiate and develop complex government and foundation strategic partnerships to advance climate action. Using your strong collaboration and experience working in a matrix organization, you will ensure P4G integrates its strategy across WRI’s programs, centers, and offices. You will be responsible for the design, negotiation with P4G funders, and execution of P4G’s strategy. You will manage a diverse, international team of staff distributed across multiple countries and will work closely with WRI offices in Africa, China, Europe, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Colombia, and the United States.

This position offers hybrid work arrangements and requires up to 30% travel.

What will you do:

People and Program Management (40%)

  • Ensure P4G is achieving outcomes and a positive change in the world by setting clear goals, developing robust strategies, and building a coherent and highly motivated team to achieve results
  • Ensure P4G has robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning approaches in place, and delivers timely reports to donors
  • Supervise and support P4G Hub staff to ensure they feel inspired, challenged, and appreciated. Inspire, motivate, and problem-solve to ensure effective program management
  • Ensure knowledge products produced by P4G Hub staff meet WRI standards of excellence for research and communications
  • Oversee robust financial management of P4G aligned to WRI standards, and ensure that project finances are managed and within budget according to donor procedures
  • Coordinate with external relations to develop communication strategies


Fundraising (30%)

  • Leverage substantial fundraising experience and existing relationships with public and philanthropic funders to increase funding and secure major grants for the program
  • Develop a sustainable funding model for P4G
  • In collaboration with the P4G Hub staff, identify and raise funds at the seven-figure plus level annually
  • Collaborate with WRI’s Development Department staff (donor relations managers for foundations, corporations, and government donors) who will help facilitate, coordinate, and track engagement and optimize donor relationships

 

Stakeholder Engagement (30%)

  • Support the P4G Hub team, build relationships with a diverse network of relevant public and private sector actors to maintain a strong network for P4G with a particular focus on in-country engagement
  • Support and enable the P4G Hub team, ensure effective communications and outreach to keep stakeholders (e.g., advisory council members, key partner countries including funders, and steering committee members) are informed and engaged and that their input is actively sought and considered in the work of P4G
  • Provide a sounding board and ultimate accountability for the strategic management of all Partnerships and Countries, including ensuring that a vision for speed, scale, and impact are maintained over time
