Description

The Associate Director of Business Analysis leads a Conservation Business team that will be comprised of Business Analysts within the Conservation & Geospatial Systems group in Information Technology (IT). The Associate Director works closely with various conservation business units across the organization, serving as a critical interface between the business client and IT and understands the conservation technology business solutions being supported, working to promote consistent conservation business processes. Together with staff overseen by the Associate Director, they bring value to their business clients by offering strategic guidance, technical requirements, data analyses, project management, communications support and creative end-to-end technology solutions for advancing conservation.

In this role, the Associate Director of Business Analysis serves as the primary IT point of contact for conservation business related projects supporting a diverse set of stakeholders within conservation science and planning teams around the world. This position is designed to ensure IT solutions and services in application development, data management and communications are aligned with business unit strategies. They are responsible for cultivating strong collaborative relationships with end users to identify, align and prioritize capabilities, gaps or deficiencies and turn them into technology recommendations and roadmaps for strategy success. They will work with peers within IT to deliver consistent, quality technical solutions and services that meet business unit goals and achieve successful outcomes more broadly for TNC. The Associate Director plays an active, contributing role in all phases of the project delivery lifecycle for any projects executed in their solution portfolio from conception to transition to operations and support. Additionally, the Associate Director will have vendor management responsibilities with essential technology product and services providers within their solution portfolio. The Associate Director will also have managerial and administrative duties for the team, including recruiting, developing staff, and establishing and managing budgets. Other teams in the Conservation & Geospatial Systems group include Application Development, Geospatial Services, Geospatial Operations, and Cartography & Design.

RESPONSIBILITES & SCOPE

  • Develop, enhance, monitor and maintain relationships with key project leads and stakeholders focused across conservation science and business communities as they relate to Conservation & Geospatial Systems functions.
  • Advance conservation business processes, assessments and evaluations for projects and initiatives specific to application development, data analysis and management.
  • Understand, assess, prioritize and validate business demands and requirements through direct communications with stakeholders.
  • Provide project management support and proactive analyses to develop and improve business products.
  • Utilize data analysis and business management tools to assess changing business needs and industry trends to evaluate alternatives and implement appropriate technology solutions.
  • Manage expectations for IT demand and services to meet business needs while ensuring alignment with IT strategies (i.e., cloud-first infrastructure, data-driven analytics, tech and tools innovation).
  • Support the execution of project portfolios and capability roadmap realization and measure the quality and business value of IT investments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work collaboratively across Conservation & Geospatial Systems teams to streamline the group’s portfolio of support services.
  • Ensure business partner initiatives are aligned with enterprise direction and enterprise architecture.
  • Manage a team of Business Analysts.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts and materials to various non-technical audiences, including executives, in both oral and written presentations.
