Description

Working as part of a global fundraising team, the Senior Associate, Institutional Relations will be responsible for growing relationships and securing funding from corporate and private foundations, as well as select government agencies. They will work closely with program and finance staff to develop detailed fundraising strategies, position the Rainforest Alliance for funding opportunities accordingly, and submit grant applications with the goal of meeting short-term revenue targets and adding to the long-term pipeline of institutional funding for future years. They will maintain a distinct donor portfolio with an emphasis on private foundations and corporate philanthropies. They will also help ensure high-quality and timely reporting to donors. The Senior Associate, will dedicate a portion of their time to donor communications across the Institutional Relations team, helping to increase the visibility and impact of the Rainforest Alliance’s work.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a distinct donor portfolio with a focus on private foundations and corporate philanthropies;
  • Support Institutional Relations team members with the management and development of a wider portfolio of foundations and corporate philanthropies;
  • Work across the organization, collaborating with other teams and colleagues in different geographic locations, to write, adapt and edit proposals, reports, and concept papers for international field projects and programs, under strict deadlines;
  • Develop deep collaborative bonds with colleagues across functional areas, particularly field teams with whom proposals and reports will be produced jointly and under tight timelines;
  • Support other Institutional Relations team members with funding opportunities for government donors or other complex funding opportunities;
  • Proactively identify new funding sources to help ensure healthy financial pipeline for future years;
  • Engage regularly with contacts at key foundations, corporate funders, and donor agencies in relation to funding opportunities in the areas of international development, poverty alleviation, and environmental conservation;
  • Engage with communications contacts at key foundations/donor agencies to proactively increase visibility of Rainforest Alliance projects and initiatives, doing so in coordination with Communications department and program staff;
  • Input and track detailed pipeline and grant information, including budgetary projections, in RA’s donor database (Salesforce);
  • Other tasks as assigned.
