Description

The Manager, Board Relations is a key position within the Resource Development department and plays an important role in overseeing the day-to-day and overall operations of the Board of Directors, Board Emeriti and President’s Council portfolios. In conjunction with the Vice President of Resource Development and Director of Individual Philanthropy, this position helps create and execute Ocean Conservancy’s strategic vision for comprehensive and proactive engagement of these critical portfolios. This position will play a crucial role in the project management, administration and strategic direction of the organization’s board and leadership level priorities. This position reports to the Director of Individual Philanthropy and is part of Ocean Conservancy’s Board Relations team as well as the Individual Philanthropy team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage key operational processes for board cultivation and engagement efforts, including annual board communication matrix, board pledge forms, board engagement calendar, individual board member network mapping, etc.
  • Manage key operational components of board network prospect development, including researching prospects, tracking key cultivation touch points, and facilitating opportunities for engagement and solicitation.
  • In partnership with the Executive Office, serve as the on-the-ground logistics manager for in-person board meetings, and related dinners and events including annual board retreat.
  • Travel to and staff all board meetings, events and excursions, including identifying potential venues, interviewing travel companies, arranging agendas and itineraries.
  • Manage the transition of board members to board emeritus members, including tracking board terms and end dates, executing the board exit process, honoring retiring board members, etc.
  • In partnership with the Vice President and Director of Individual Philanthropy, oversee Board Emeriti portfolio, facilitating the strategic stewardship, cultivation and solicitation of this key constituency group.
  • In partnership with the Director of Individual Philanthropy, manage key operational components of new Ocean Conservancy President’s Council.
  • Manage key aspects of all board-led/sponsored events in partnership with the Events and Individual Philanthropy teams.
  • Coordinate regularly with larger Board Relations team through monthly alignment meetings.
  • Help staff and support the Board Governance and Development committees.
  • Manage all data for board members and associated leads/prospects in Raisers Edge.
