The main goal for this position is to increase the organizational capacity of Surfrider Foundation’s Florida Chapter and Club network through strategic outreach on environmental campaigns and programs leading to an increase in activists and membership. The secondary objective is to increase the organizational capacity of the Rincon Puerto Rico Chapter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the local and statewide campaign and program efforts of chapters within Florida.
- Assist in growing Florida statewide membership and Rincon Puerto Rico membership.
- Facilitate and train chapter volunteers in direct action organizing techniques including, but not limited to; campaign planning, recruitment, retention, strategy, tactics and program implementation.
- Assist the Florida chapter network and Rincon Chapter in developing, implementing, and strengthening chapter programs including Ocean Friendly Gardens, Ocean Friendly Restaurants, Blue Water Task Force, and Plastic Pollution
- Represent Surfrider Foundation at local Florida administrative hearings and public events when necessary.
- In conjunction with the Surfrider staff develop and maintain positive relations with the regional funding community as well as grant and funding proposal development.
- Coordinate with the Director of Chapters & Clubs, to develop and facilitate statewide training conferences for the Florida & Puerto Rico Chapter network.
- Collaborate with the Florida Policy Manager to promote statewide legislative campaigns and engage volunteers (throughout the chapter and club network).
- Administrative Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; writing newsletter articles, supporting web content development, social media outreach and grant reporting, and maintaining Chapter Contact Lists of all current volunteer executive committee officers.
- Facilitate chapter governance and oversight, including but not limited to: chapter annual planning and reporting, executive committee and leadership onboarding, training and cultivation, and development of chapter resources.
