Description

In the role of Communications Specialist, you willsupport theGlobal Forest Watch (GFW) initiative. You will be reporting to the Senior Communications Manager for Land and Forests, the Communications Specialistwill work across teams to communicate around GFW features, use cases, and relevant research. In this role, you will provide general initiative support and will serve as the GFW point of contact for internal and external communications coordination. Youwill be responsible for outreach and content creation using GFW’s social media channels, newsletters, and blog. As the Communications Specialist, you will work closely with GFW experts and partners tocommunicate GFWs powerful data and leverage it into on-the-ground action.

This position is remote due to Covid-19, but you will be based in Washington, DC once restrictions have lifted.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day production of GFW communications and outreach content
  • Write and edit a variety of products including blog posts, newsletters, website copy, and other project-related materials
  • Develop compelling written copy and dynamic visuals for GFW’s social media platforms
  • Draft and coordinate email communications and newsletters

Cross-Team Coordination

  • Coordinate with GFW and the Land and Forests Communications to prioritize outputs and maintain the GFW outreach calendar
  • Work in close coordination with GFW’s platform and research team to communicate important data and product updates with users
  • Work in close coordination with GFW’s engagement team to identify and support user needs
  • Coordinate with WRI’s Core Communications team to ensure public-facing content meets brand standards and contributes to overall strategy
  • Coordinate with WRI country offices to conduct outreach in target countries in South America, Central Africa, and Southeast Asia

User Community Engagement

  • Work closely with the GFW engagement team to reach target audiences, including NGO, private sector, government, and civil society
  • Create materials that inform use cases and showcase successes among target users
  • Support promotion around webinars and training
  • Manage translation of outreach materials into target languages

Analytics and Reporting

  • Define goals, implement strategy, and create analytics reports that capture outreach outcomes using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in Google Analytics and Pardot
  • Create analytics reports that capture outcomes of outreach campaigns to share with the GFW team and donors
  • Collect user stories, testimonials, and other examples of how people are using GFW to support the monitoring and evaluation team
