A sister organization of the National Wildlife Federation, the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization working to raise the visibility of key conservation issues with voters and elected officials. Through grassroots actions and focused legislative and political campaigns, the Action Fund advocates for solutions to protect, restore, and connect wildlife habitat; transform wildlife conservation; and connect Americans with wildlife. To support our mission we are hiring for the first Adam Kolton Action Fund Fellow, located in our Washington, DC office.  All employees are working remotely while we make return to office decisions, expected to be in early 2022.  Adam Kolton was an environmental leader with a deep commitment to our public lands and preserving the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.  Adam worked at National Wildlife Federation for 15 years, including leading the Washington, D.C. office. During his tenure, Adam revitalized the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund because of his belief that NWF Action Fund could bring together people from all political stripes to protect our nation’s air, land, and water.  As our Adam Kolton Action Fund Fellow you will provide an opportunity for the next generation of environmental leaders to gain experience in the political and advocacy process so that they can provide leadership for our public lands and the places that Adam worked so hard to protect.

You will provide day-to-day task and long-term campaign support to the Action Fund team and National Advocacy Center. In this role you will work across many different areas of conservation, including policy, advocacy, education, and community engagement.  

The Fellow must be available to work a 40-hour weekly schedule. This 11-month position offers $20/hour plus core benefits.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assist in developing and carrying out the political work of the Action Fund including:
    • Support in the endorsement process;
    • Research candidates records and positions;
    • Assist in organizing events, including fundraisers and meet and greets;
    • Phonebanking and canvassing for candidates
  • Work with digital team to create content for emails and online platforms including Twitter and Facebook, including elevating public lands issues;
  • Work with the field team to provide support on public lands and Artic issues;
  • Perform other administrative duties as needed and helping with shared office duties
