Description

The NbS-M Specialist will support the advance of the strategic priorities of the NbS-M Conservation Program, particularly the Finance and Markets and Policy pillars of systemic change of the program. They will manage, plan, execute, and monture projects implemented by the NbS-M Conservation Program. They will provide technical leadership and support to the NbS-M Conservation Program and the TNC Colombia Program the designing, implementation, expansion, and sustainability of a portfolio of high-quality, credible carbon offsets from NbS-M projects according to TNC SOPs, and on the engagement of the public and private sectors in the promotion and implementation of NbS-M alternatives, in articulation with TNC Global, Regional and Colombia teams. They will support the interaction with TNC teams in the regions, World Office and Global working on NbS-M, and support the implementation of the Shared Conservation Agenda and the updating process of the HUB. Also, the NbS-M Specialist provides supports for developing key technical products, donor reports, and new proposals, and support the fundraising strategy.



 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Manage, coordinate and monitor projects that implement NbS-M initiatives under the NbS-M Conservation Program.
  • Designing, implement, and expand, a portfolio of high-quality, credible carbon offsets from NbS-M projects, in articulation with TNC Global, Regional and Colombia Carbon Market Teams and TNC Center for Carbon Excellence.
  • Support the preparation and identification of new proposals and fundraising campaigns to ensure the financial sustainability of the NbS-M Conservation Program.
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with TNC Global and Regional teams, other Conservation Programs in TNC Colombia, and external key stakeholders to promote NbS-M alternatives and disseminate the work of the NbS-M Conservation Program to position TNC as a strategic ally of the government, the private sector, and the civil society in implementing high-quality, credible carbon offsets based on NbS to mitigation.
  • Work in close collaboration with other Conservation Programs in TNC Colombia to achieve the goals of TNC, particularly those of the TNC Colombia Program.
  • Identify and build strategic alliances with public and private key stakeholders at the national, regional, and local scale to promote and implement NbS-M pathways as alternatives for the country and corporates to meet their emission reduction goals.
  • Coordinate project team efforts and deliverables following TNC values and competencies, guaranteeing project goals are met and collaboration among the team.
  • Provide suggestions on tools and indicators to follow the implementation, impact, and results of projects and initiatives developed within the NbS-M Conservation Program.
  • Provide support in the evaluation and control of the execution and development of the work needed to implement NbS-M initiatives, activities, and tasks according to deadlines, budgets, and agreements.
  • Strategically communicate results and support the TNC Communication team in the preparation of communication material linked to the NbS-M Conservation Program.
  • Support the updating process of the Shared Conservation Agenda HUB with the information of NbS-M projects under their responsibility. 
  • Provide technical advice to strengthen the Policy Pillar of Systemic Change of the program to the NbS-M Conservation Program, the TNC Colombia Program and other BUs.
  • Act as a resource to others to solve problems.
  • Support the development of educational, promotional and brand positioning materials, related to the objectives of NbS-M Conservation Program.
  • Gain cooperation from outside parties to accomplish program goals.
  • Ensures program compliance with internal policies and external requirements. 
  • Under minimal supervision, make independent decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.
  • May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
  • Apply performance partnership process to lead and guide staff
