POSITION SUMMARY

In July 2015, Conservation International (CI) became the first international NGO to be approved as an Accredited Entity for the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The first GCF project to be implemented by CI has been approved by GCF in November 2016, the “Sustainable Landscapes in Eastern Madagascar” project.

“Sustainable Landscapes in Eastern Madagascar” project has contributed to the country’s commitments by improving the resiliency of climate-vulnerable smallholder farmer families to climate change and shocks, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation, and leveraging private sector investments.

One of the outputs of the GCF Project is to strengthen the communication and behavior change activities of government employees, local conservation and development NGOs, farmer groups, and local communities to implement mitigation and adaptation measures to achieve Climate-Smart Landscapes.

The primary role of the communication and Behavior Change Manager will be to act as the leader for key partners support communication and monitor behavior change activities in the fields. This individual shall keep the Director of COFAV informed regarding issues of program management and implementation of these activities and work closely with the Livelihood and Behavior Change Manager and the communication Manager in Antananarivo.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • -Implement,  update, as needed the communication in the field and behavior change plan in the field and coordinate activities: identification of beneficiaries and their needs, updating behavior change and communication tools covering climate change, sustainable landscape planning and approaches, and implementing activities.
  • -Ensure that all communication and capacity building required for the success of the Sustainable Landscapes in Eastern Madagascar Project will be implemented successfully.
  • – Monitor and assess the communication,  and behavior change activities to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and implemented climate change adaptation and mitigation measures.
  • -Collaborate closely with the adaptation team in both CAZ and COFAV.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • -This position is based in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
  • -Frequent travel in CAZ and COFAV.
