My route into climate activism has been through traditional political interests, so I do not consider myself a natural climate campaigner. I am 21 years old and I am from Brighton, United Kingdom. I first became
active in the environmental movement after attending the UK’s first Climate Strike in February 2019. Shortly after, I joined the team helping to coordinate the strikes in Brighton before joining the national organizing team, the UK Student Climate Network (UKSCN), where I currently volunteer with the social media team. UKSCN has coordinated every UK national climate strike since the start and also campaigns for the government to adopt our four demands. Working alongside other organizations and politicians, we achieved much in 2019 including pressuring the government into adopting a net-zero target of 2050, persuading the opposition Labour Party to adopt a Green New Deal policy with a net-zero target of 2030, as well as getting broadcasters to host the first-ever Climate Debate during the 2019 General Election.
