Description

This role supports the Wisconsin chapter by using The Nature Conservancy’s fundraising database, Microsoft Excel and related software to provide thoughtful, consistent, and concise database management and analysis to guide our successful and established major gifts fundraising program, which currently includes Wisconsin’s $48 million campaign. 

Key tasks include helping track and manage the portfolios of the team’s four out-the-door fundraisers; scheduling and facilitating regular development team strategy sessions; preparing monthly, quarterly and ad hoc fundraising and activity reports for the development team, the State Director, and the WI Board of Trustees as needed; managing the discovery pipeline process; managing donor research; creating mailing lists for chapter newsletters and other cultivation/stewardship mailings; ensuring database quality-control; and providing support and training to colleagues related to database management. 

The Major Gifts Manager is responsible for overseeing gift coding and processing as well as tracking and stewarding pledge information.  The Major Gifts Manager also serves as the Private Funds Lead for the chapter and partners with finance to ensure the chapter is requesting and managing donor funds in accordance with best practices and SOPs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Act independently on assigned tasks and exercise independent judgment based on analysis and experience.
  • Coordinate projects with several variables and work within a defined timeline and budget.
  • Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise interns, volunteers, and/or temporary staff.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
  • Financial responsibility includes gift processing and serving as the Wisconsin Private Funds Lead.
  • Provide input through project teams for the improvement of existing programs.
  • Refer difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
  • Limited travel may be required and may need to work flexible hours.
